Maybe next year...
You know what I mean. The Cubs still put up a good fight, getting so close to the World series. But sadness lingers over the city of Chicago.
I'll be rooting for the red Sox tommorrow, though.
Game 6
Cubs: 3
Marlins: 8
Due to an unfortunate turnaround in the 8th inning, the Marlins scored 8 runs in that inning. Cubs and Marlins tied 3-3. One more game! Everything is tense. (I'm watching it now!)
Game 5
Cubs: 0
Marlins 4
Cubs still lead 3-2. The Marlins had Josh Beckett, who pitched very well. The Cubs' starting pitcher,Carlos Zambrano, did better than last game, but I still miss Mark Prior and Kerry Wood. The Cubs have next Tuesday to finish this series. Hopefully the home-field advantage will help them!
Game 4
Cubs: 8
Marlins: 3
That Grand Slam by Aramis Ramirez was so aerodynamic! What's more, he scored two good home runs in the game! Matt Clement kept the Marlins fooled. One more game 'til the World Series!
What happened today?
I took the SAT test and went to libraries to look for books. Now I'm watching baseball.
Game 3
Cubs: 5
Marlins: 4
Pinch Hitter Doug Glanville and Ramon Martinez saved the game last night! Now the Cubs are even closer to the World Series!
Finals
Game 2
Cubs: 12
Marlins: 3
A dominating win for the Cubs, with Sosa and Gonzalez giving out good home runs (Gonzalez had 3!) and Kenny Lofton and the others had good base hits. Mark Prior was an awesome pitcher. Them Marlins are gettin' fried!
My, how much things have changed in three years...
We we allowed to come to school at 10:30 today. The lower classmen were having their Plan and Explore tests in the morning, so they did not want us in there. As we went into school we went to our auditorium because there was an assembly for us seniors. After the Principal, the vice-principals, and the student council made their speeches, we saw a little movie showing our high school like it was three years ago, back when the school first opened and we were just Freshmen. I was surprised at how different we looked then; we were smaller and I couldn't recognize some of the faces! And I thought the current Freshmen were small for their size. I guess my Mom was right when she said that we grew a lot during our high school years. Man, how things have changed.
Game 1
Final Score:
Cubs: 8
Marlins: 9
The Cubs put up quite a fight which lasted for 11 innings. At first the Cubs had a huge lead, but the Marlins soon caught up. The Marlins had the lead during most of the game, but the Cubs tried to keep up with them. Sammy Sosa tied the game in the ninth inning, when the Marlins were leading by 2 (8-8). One home run in the 11th inning gave the game to the Marlins.
In all my seventeen years, I've never realized how much major league baseball was so much fun...
Another weekend has come and is starting to pass. On Saturday Morning I had a Mathe Team competition. Afterwards I reluctantly went to dentist. Because the Cubs are one of the finalists for the National League, me and mom went to Wrigley Field to check the atmosphere. (We couldn't get tickets, they were all sold out.) There were many neat things, as well as many eager Cubs fans. We tried to go into a bar to eat, but I couldn't go in because I was just 17!
So we just ate at Taco Bell, and watched the first few moments of the game from there. After that we took the bus home. We put on the TV to catch more of the game. Usually I would not pay much attention to it, because I am not a Sports person, but that day was different. This is the first time in 95 years that the Cubs were close to winning the league. And so I was psyched, and cheered loudly for my team. My mom was astonished at how loud I was. I was having fun.
The Cubs didn't win that game on Saturday. But they did on the next day. I was loud during that game too. I exclaimed my joy by screaming loudly. I saw the happy faces on TV, too, and wished I was there. Now the Cubs are off to face the Florida Mariners today. I give them good luck.
Aerial N-Gage Advertising
On Sunday, I saw a very weird cloud formation in the clear skies. The clouds were straight lines, and I saw a jet forming them. They seemed to form letters. I saw "N-GA." I soon realized what it will spell. "N-GAGE." The new handheld that Nokia made to compete with the GBA. I thought this was really innovative advertising. I think they did this to coincide with the Bears game.
Today is the first day of October. Horray.
Ummm...what have I watched? Ah yes, I watched
The Mission quite some time ago in my Latin American History Class. The movie is about a South American mission in the 1700s. The movie stars Robert Deniro and Jeremy Irons. It's an okay flick.
