snorlaxsnapple's hideout
Yesterday I just got back from Las Vegas. It was a nice, long trip. I felt a little sad going back to Chicago. A summary of what happened:
-Took plane to Las Vegas
-Stayed at Harrah's Hotel/Casino
-Checked out Caesar's Forum Shops while my parents gambled at the casino
-Watched Terminator 3 (again!) while parents kept gambling
-Drove to Camarillo, California to visit relatives (and visited Universal Studios along the way)
-Hung out with my nephews and nieces
-Went to the beach in Port Hueneme
-Went back to Las Vegas (relatives went there also)
-Stayed at Stratosphere
-Hung out in Las Vegas some more, while Parents gambled (again!)
-Watched
League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
-Flew back home
I guess that it. And earlier I said I would be driving on the Mojave, I didn't. My dad didn't need any assistance.
Movies I've sen
I watched
League of Extraordinary Gentlemen with the mindset that it would suck. Yes, it wasn't the most Oscar-deserving movie out there, but it's not bad, either. The characters and their abilities were fun to watch. The plot was okay, basically the League is trying to stop this madman from starting a World War between the nations of Europe. The madman tries to ignite war by committing atrocities in different nations and getting the national leaders to blame other countries for the trouble in their respective countries. There are some twists in the story as the movie progresses. The special effects were decent, not the best, but they do their job. I liked seeing Captain Nemo's ship
Nautilus and the
Invisble Man painting himself visible. The thing is, the movie is not realistic. I would find it hard to to believe that a fast automoble would exist in 1899, or a factory that can produce advanced 20th century technology. This is a movie for escapists and people that don't care about realism.
Today I will be leaving for Las Vegas and California. I may not be on the Internet for a while. Woohoo! Now that I have gotten my driver's license I will drive our rental car through the Mojave Desert. Just like Arnold did in the Terminator movies! It is a sunny day today, with some clouds to the west, just like yesterday.
I'm a Pokemon Fan
As you can tell from the name, I am a Pokemon fan. I have played the games, watched the anime, and collected the merchandise since 1999. I don't really watch the anime or collect Pokemon goods nowadays, but occasionally I pop in my Pokemon Ruby in my GBA so I can level up my guys. And I still think Pikachu and his friends are cute. My sister thinks Snorlax is cute and she refers to me as "Snorlax" sometimes. That's why I chose this name.
The weather is so fickle! Yesterday it was sunny, but this morning there were clouds, then some clear skies, and then a thunderstorm. Our weather must have emotions like us!
Movies I've seen
Pirates of the Caribbean was an okay movie. To tell the truth it was kind of boring. Maybe because I viewed it on a late night. Or because my sisters feel asleep during the middle of the movie, and the feeling that it bored them so much was passed on to me. I couldn't understand some of Johnny Depp's lines, but he did show a lot of spirit. The female lead gets kidnapped but she shows her stomach later in the flick. Don't really feel like saying much, but if you like pirate movies, Johnny Depp, or Orlando Bloom you will like this film.
Terminator 2 was better than
Terminator 3, but both are good films. The villain, who is played by Robert Patrick, was a menacing character. If you are looking for suspense, a good "Robot" flick, or just plain Arnold, you will like this movie.
At first today was cloudy, but to my joy eventually the neverending blue skies appeared. I went to see a movie today.
Movies I've Seen
Reluctantly I viewed
How to Deal today at my parent's urging. This movie is starred by pop singer Mandy Moore. I was reluctant about seeing this because I am not fond with teen movies at all. But it is a romantic comedy with the usual romantic elements and lightheartedness as well. I took this into account and so I enjoyed the movie. There were some funny moments, too. The Grandma was funny. If you are a fan of romantic comedies than you will like the movie.
Movies I've seen
The Italian Job didn't rely too much on CGI unlike other movies of its generation. It wasn't realistic, either. It still manages to impress me with its suspenseful action, plot, and cast. Charlize Theron was gorgeous, and she was quite good at acting, too. Mark Wahlberg didn't really shine, but he did his job as the leader. Charlie's gang was good as comic relief, especially Seth Green, who played the nerd in the gang. As said before the action wasn't realistic but it was exciting. This is a movie I would recommend to fans of action and "theft" movies.
What happened today?
I volunteered at the Chicago Library Summer Reading Program. This program encorages kids to read by rewarding them for reading books. I'm supposed to keep track of how many books they've read and listen to them read books if necessary. I have to do this becuase I need service learning hours. At six hours every Thursday I will hopefully have most of the 40 required for graduation. It's an okay job, but it's boring. Ah well, it's just on Thursdays.
There were a lot of Thunderstorms today which is typical of a July day. I hate Thunderstorms, not because of the rain but because of the lightning and thunder. Lightning is scary, and the superloud boom of Thunder is even scarier.
Reviews of Movies I've seen
Terminator 3 was a good film, but to tell the truth it is not as good as Terminator 2. T2 had the better ending and its enemy was more frightening. T2 and T3 have a similar plot; basically a good "cybernetic organism" (means "robot" for the non-geeks) from the future must protect John Connor from the evil terminator, who is also from the future. John grows up to be the future leader of the humans in their war against sentient machines, so his existence must be preserved. They must also try to destroy Skynet, the sentient software that provokes the humans vs. machines war. T3 wasn't exactly original but it was still entertaining. The movie had its funny moments. I found the bathroom fight scene to be funny, even when it wasn't. I guess it is because I enjoyed seeing some supermodel type kick the shit out of Arnold Schwartzenegger, and vice-versa.
Speaking of supermodels, Kristanna Loken was sexy as the TX, and she was a damn evil robot. This chick was a "look, don't touch" girl. I actually felt like cheering for her and hoped that she would complete her mission. Arnie is still going strong and he's 55! He still gave a good performance as the T-850 M101. Okay, so not much acting is required to play as a robot, but he's still good in those action scenes. Nick Stahl wasn't as assertive as Edward Furlong in the role of John Connor, and while he had subpar dialouge I was OK with him. Claire Danes, who played John's future lieutenant and wife, had more attitude than him. However, her development from a reluctant civilian to a robot fighter was a bit abrupt. She was a good replacement for Sarah Connor, though.
It's a good film for action fans. I've heard that some diehard Terminator fans were dissapointed, but since I never had a strong attachment to the Terminator series I still enjoyed it. Okay, so maybe I just saw it just for Kristanna. The concept of a terminator sporting a female guise was interesting.
Yay! Today is the day that I have started this "blog" thingie. This little place will be where I can share my ideas. I envision, that as the days pass, this place will grow from this little seed of a message to a tall tree of thoughts. I'm gonna treat this hideout like it is my own child.
Today is the day that I recieved my driver's license. It was an achievement that I am quite proud of. I wasn't acting all "whoop-dee-do" but I was glad that those days of practice are over. Now I have stepped up one step of the stairs of life. It was a little step, but it will lead to even larger steps.
Crushes right now: Kristanna Loken, Charlize Theron, some blonde girls I don't even know
I've always had this weird fondness for blondes. Maybe because their hair is so shiny. Kristanna had an excellent performance in Terminator 3, even is she was a robot and she did not say very much. She really kicked Arnold's ass! Charlize Theron was an excellent thief in Italian Job. Blondes really aren't dumb anymore. I don't really give a crap about J-Ho, just let me have my beautiful blondies!
The summer weeks are passing by fast, and even though I don't really do anything it's still better than being at school.
